FLOP SCHEME - a visual story of India’s most ambitious emplyment scheme, MGNREGA, in Tarapur VIllage, Varanasi District.
Synopsis (English)
The documentary comes with a great storyline.
The story of two GraamSewaks and their Village Pradhaan in the Tarapur Village. The story begins with the first Graamsewak who tells nothing but the truth. He says that he is the official registered MGNREGA graamsewak, but the Village Pradhaan has hired his own private GraamSewak to do his work.
Simply because he is an innocent man, who does not comply with the Pradhaan’s corrupt ways.
Then the search begins for Raju, who stays with the village Pradhaan, unregistered with MGNREGA scheme and sources tell us that he has contacts in the local Mafia.
The BHU students move toward the Village Pradhaan’s house.
Interviewing the Village Pradhaan, he says that MGNREGA scheme is a flop anyway. To maintain a Sixty-forty ratio is absolutely impossible, specially in a small village like Tarapur.
This is what is, MGNREGA scheme, if 60 percent of small works are not done in the village, the government will not pay for any major development work.
In the eyes of Pradhaan, we see that he is absolutely corrupt. However, we also know that he is also a just a small player in the game of chess. And is only indebted to his own responsibilities. And finally even says that the local mafia does not allow work to be done under the MGNREGA scheme.
